Everything You Need to Know About Replacement Windows from Renewal by Andersen®
Got questions? We have answers. Choosing the right windows can be a daunting prospect. Here at Renewal by Andersen® of Odessa/Midland, we want you to be as informed as possible before starting a home improvement project of this magnitude.
We welcome you to browse through our most common window FAQs, but we also hope you will call us with any extra questions or concerns you may have.
Q: Should I install new windows myself to save cash?
A: That would be a “no.” It’s not advised to attempt window installation as a DIY project. Without the proper skill and tools, you risk installing your windows improperly, voiding the warranty and decreasing their function and energy efficiency. Just go the safe route and hire our factory-trained crews who make sure your windows are properly balanced and installed.
Q: Do I have to replace all windows at one time? Can I replace them one at a time?
A: No, you don’t have to replace them all at once, and yes you can do it one at a time. We just recommend tackling them all at once if you are planning to eventually replace them all, as you can save money bundling them. It’s more convenient for everyone involved, as well. That being said, if you only have one damaged window you need replaced, then by all means, we can replace just that one. Think you want to replace them all but can’t afford it all at once? We’ll put you on a replacement schedule that will ensure gradual installation over a set time period.
Q: Do I have to install the same style window I currently have?
A: Nope. You can switch things up by mixing and matching. A picture window can replace two double hung windows, for instance.
Q: Can I save money on energy bills by installing replacement windows?
A: You sure can. When you know you can lose up to one-third of the money you spend to heat and cool your home, it’s a no-brainer to replace your windows to save on costs. With our replacement windows, not only do you use less energy, you’ll pay less on energy bills. You will appreciate that our replacement windows feature insulated frames and glass packages that give you a strong thermal barrier for minimal energy loss.
Q: Why is inert gas such as argon or krypton added between the panes of glass?
A: These gases prevent the transfer of thermal energy through conduction, guarding against the escape of energy.
Q: What kind of window frame is best?
A: We make our windows with our own Fibrex® material, which gives our products added strength, durability, insulating properties, ease of maintenance, and aesthetics. You may see other frame materials on the market that feature some of these qualities but not ALL like Fibrex.
Q: Can’t I just pick up some cheap windows at my local big box store?
A: Technically this is possible but it’s not something we recommend. Those generic windows may come with a lower price tag but they’re lower in quality too. They appeal to home builders who are trying to save as much money as possible. You know your home deserves better than that. Plus, we customize our windows to fit your home through precise measurements.
